At least 57 tombstones in a large Jewish cemetery close to Chicago have defaced with anti-Semitic slogans in a vandalism attack that caused at least US$ 100,000 in damage. According to police, vandals using white and blue spray paint drew swastikas and slurs on tombstones in a section of the 72-acre Westlawn Cemetery, in Norridge, where roughly 46,000 people are buried. Police believe several people were involved and consider the incident a hate crime.
