Governing Board Meeting in Cordoba, 07 June 2005
The Governing Board of the WJC met on the eve of the OSCE Conference on Anti-Semitism and Other Forms of Intolerance Jewish held in Cordòba, Spain, on 8th and 9th June 2005.
The Board heard reports on anti-Semitism occurring in Jewish communities around the world from community representatives. The Board also assessed proposed changes to the organization's constitution, reviewed several structural and administrative matters and adopted several resolutions relating to combating anti-Semitism through the OSCE, the Organization of American States and the United Nations. The World Jewish Congress also took steps to advocate the inclusion of Israel's Magen David Adom into the International Committee of the Red Cross.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Governing Board members met with non- governmental organizations gathering in Seville to discuss methods and best practices for monitoring and combating anti-Semitism and other forms of intolerance. The World Jewish Congress delegates joined with other NGOs in a mutual battle against violence intolerance, and all forms of prejudice.
On Monday, June 6, the World Jewish Congress Steering Committee met for the third time this year. Among the issues discussed by the Committee were budgetary matters and funding proposals. The Steering Committee is comprised of the World Jewish Congress President and the Chairmen of the Governing Board and the Executive, as well as the Chairmen of the Jewish Agency, the European Jewish Congress, the Latin American Jewish Congress, the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress and the North American and Israel Sections of the World Jewish Congress.
