The World Jewish Congress has actively maintained its participation
in all world forums where it remains vigilant on critical issues
of Jewish concern. Clearly the central stage for this active engagement
is within the various structures and sub-bodies of the United
Nations.
The WJC, which has long-recognized credentials at the U.N. has sought to use its position to promote the general cause of human rights while speaking out against politically motivated attacks against the State of Israel.
It is unfortunate that the WJC, with great frustration, must continue to report that our success at meeting the contemporary challenge of achieving world order based on freedom, justice and peace has been repeatedly stymied by a coalition of hostile States. With the addition of five new U.N. member states in the past 20 years the problem has only worsened.
Each year we've witnessed an annual sequence of ritual condemnatory resolutions on Israel by the same coalition of Third World countries of Asia and Africa, manipulated by the Arab and Islamic states. There have been notable exceptions --- sadly too few to make a difference --- among the more discerning African States.
