World Jewish Congress President Ronald S. Lauder issued the following statement welcoming the appointment of David Friedman as US Ambassador to Israel:
“As president of the World Jewish Congress, I could not be more pleased that the US Senate has confirmed the appointment of David Friedman as the next US Ambassador to Israel.
“I have been impressed with David’s great intelligence, as well as his keen understanding of the political nuances in the Middle East. I believe he will, first and foremost, represent the interests of the United States.
“David Friedman will continue to enhance the unbreakable bond and deep friendship between Israel and the United States, a long-standing policy President Trump has quickly demonstrated that he stands firmly behind.
“I am also pleased that the first senior ambassadorial appointment confirmed in this administration is the ambassador to Israel, as it demonstrates that the US government clearly recognizes the importance of its diplomatic relations with Israel and to returning to the long history of support without delay.”
“I send my congratulations and support.”
