Members of the WJC-JDCorps and LAJC-NG participated Wednesday in a meeting with Mutuma Ruteere, the UN Special Rapporteur on contemporary forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance during his country visit to Argentina.
During the meeting, JDs Andres Popritkin, Hernan Kohan and Ezequiel Sporn presented the Special Rapporteur with a report they prepared in advance of his visit to Argentina.
The report reviews the existing legislation and authorities for fighting anti-Semitism and racial discrimination in Argentina, and presents data regarding the status of anti-Semitism in Argentina.
It also discusses specific cases of discrimination and anti-Semitism and political parties that have anti-Semitic roots. The report provides the rapporteur with seven concrete recommendations for him to include in his report to the UN about dealing with anti-Semitism and discrimination in Argentina.
