A Jewish man was attacked outside a synagogue in Melbourne on Thursday.
In a video of the scene, a man can be seen threatening an Orthodox Jew to "go back to Israel" outside the Adass Synagogue. The assailant then shoves the man, who tackles him to the ground with the help of others and holds him until a policeman arrived.
The man, who claims to be Aboriginal, can also be heard shouting about Allah and says "do you think you can rule this land?".
Posting a video of the incident on its Facebook page, the 'Australian Jewish News' said the scene had been “terrifying” and called on members of the public to alert police in the event of an emergency.
A separate video shows the same assailant shouting at another Hassidic man at the entrance to the synagogue. After he was told to “Talk nicely,” the abuser responded by slapping the man in the face.
