A portrait of Adolf Hitler by the late Sir Nicholas Fairbairn, to be auctioned later this month, has caused outrage among Britain's Jews. The painting of the Nazi leader is one of a collection of 29 oils, watercolors and pastels by the right-wing politician of the Conservative Party to be sold off. Other pictures by Fairbairn, who lived in a Scottish castle, will also be for sale. Lord Janner, vice president of the World Jewish Congress, said: "I can think of no other person in our lifetime who would be more revolting to paint than Adolf Hitler, the greatest murderer of all time. I am surprised that any reputable auction house would sell this sort of item… The only person who would want to purchase this portrait would be one of Hitler's current followers." Fairbairn, a member of parliament and government minister under Margaret Thatcher, died in May 1995 aged 61.
