A member of the Buenos Aires city council has not been reprimanded for an anti-Semitic comment he made about a staff member. Last Friday, city legislators voted not to condemn Mirta Onega, who in May called a staff member a “shitty Jew.” The comments were taped by a hidden video camera. A special internal commission investigated and proposed to suspend her for 180 days, but the lawmakers rejected the recommendation. “I am very sad because not the person who was injured nor the injured community were compensated,” Sandra Bergenfeld, the president of the commission, told the news agency JTA.
