The World Jewish Congress, American Section was given a four-star rating by Charity Navigator, America's largest charity evaluator, which appraises the financial health, accountability and transparency of more than 8,000 US-based charities.
The WJC scored 94.2 out of 100 on financial performance and 97.00 out of 100 on accountability and transparency. The organization's overall score was 95.38 out of 100. Of 16 major Jewish organizations in the United States rated by Charity Navigator, only two others have been awarded four stars.
In a letter to the WJC, American Section, the president and CEO of Charity Navigator wrote: “As the nonprofit sector continues to grow at an unprecedented pace, savvy donors are demanding more accountability, transparency and quantifiable results from the charities they choose to support with their hard-earned dollars.
"Receiving four out of a possible four stars indicates that your organization adheres to good governance and other best practices that minimize the chance of unethical activities and consistently executes its mission in a fiscally responsible way. Approximately a quarter of the charities we evaluate have received our highest rating, indicating that the World Jewish Congress, American Section, outperforms most other charities in America. This exceptional designation from Charity Navigator differentiates World Jewish Congress, American Section, from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust.”
