World Jewish Congress (WJC) Secretary General Dan Diker and the WJC team have presented the WJC's book on Israel’s rights in international diplomacy to the main factions in the Israeli parliament. On 4 June, the WJC team, together with the book’s editor, former Israeli diplomat and legal expert Amb. Alan Baker, presented the publication to the ’Independence’ faction of Defense Minister Ehud Barak, which is chaired by MK Einat Wilf (both pictured above).
Barak noted the importance and timeliness of this WJC Knesset initiative and thanked the delegation for providing a diplomatic tool that assists ministers, members of Knesset and diplomats answer the tough questions on Israel’s rights that are being posed daily.
Since it was first published several months ago, ‘Israel’s Rights as a Nation-State of the Jewish People in International Diplomacy’ has already become required reading for incoming Israeli diplomats and has been distributed by Israel’s Foreign Ministry to its embassies around the world.
The publication includes articles written by major scholars on subjects such as the debate about Israel’s borders, United Nations resolutions on the Middle East conflict and their interpretation, and tools to counter challenges to Israel’s legitimacy. It was funded by World Jewish Congress President Ronald S. Lauder.
