Edward (Eduard) Shifrin was born on 07 December 1960 in Dnepropetrovsk. He graduated from school in 1977.
From 1977-1983 he studied at the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys, specializing in 'physicochemical exploration of the metallurgical process', from where he qualified as metallurgical engineer.
From July 1983 to March 1993 he worked in varying positions at 'Dniprospecstal' in Zaporizhzhya.
In 1992 he received a PhD in metallurgy from Moscow's Institute of Steel and Alloys.
From 1993-1995 he worked in representative office of Linful International LTD”, in England.
From 1995 to 1998 he was head of representative office of Midland Recourses Inc in Canada.
From 1998 to 2004 he was Director General Midland Recourses UK (Great Britain).
Since 1999 to he has been co-President of the Jewish Confederation of Ukraine.
Since 2002 he has been Vice-President of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress.
Since2004 he has been SB Associate Director of Zaporizhsta.
In 1999 he was awarded 'Laureate of State Prize in science and techniques' as co-author of the book 'Theory of metallurgical process'.
He is currently an active Member of Board of the Kiev City Jewish Community and Union of Jewish Religious Organization of Ukraine.
He provides financial aid to FJOR in Russia. He is the main Sponsor of the reconstruction of the Rosenberg Synagogue, Kiev, Podol, and of the building of the Yeshiva at the same location.
He is married and has 3 children.
