Member of Executive representing Future Leadership
Benny Fischer is the elected president of the European Union of Jewish Students (EUJS). He studied Political Sciences at Hamburg University and Law at Bucerius Law School. Benny grew up in a traditional Jewish household as the son of an Israeli mother and a German father. In 2010 he graduated from the Jewish High School of Berlin. Ever since he was a scholar of the Ernst Ludwig Ehrlich Studienwerk (ELES), a Jewish scholarship foundation which is government-funded.
Before his term at EUJS he served as ELES’ national student president. He worked in Jewish and non-Jewish youth centers and youth movements (foremost the ZWST) for more than nine years. Additionally, he started teaching and shaping the education of new youth leaders in January 2014. Apart from that, he started a grass-roots initiative; giving guided tours through the Synagogue of Hamburg for visitors of all age, mostly school classes. Thereby he tried to deliver a first insight into Judaism and Jewish identity.
