Yehiel Leket is Co-Chairman of the Israel Branch of the World Jewish Congress and World Chairman of the Jewish National Fund ("Keren Kayemeth l'Yisrael", KKL). He has been member of the Jewish Agency's Board of Governors since 1985. He served as acting Chairman of the Executive of the Jewish Agency from 1994 to 1995. Previously he was as head of the Settlement Department of the World Zionist Organization and head of the Department for Rural and Urban Development of the Jewish Agency. He has also been head of Youth Aliyah. Between 1973 and 1979 Yehiel Leket was a member of Israel's parliament, the Knesset, for the Labor Party. Involved in numerous cultural and educational institutions, Mr. Leket currently serves on the board of the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra. He holds a BA from the Hebrew University, where he is presently studying towards an MA.
